Happy New Year and welcome to 2015!
As you begin to prepare for the upcoming semester I hope you are planning to attend the 2015 AMEA Inservice Conference February 5 - 7 at the Phoenix Mesa Marriott Resort and Conference Center.
We appreciate that you joined us in 2014 for our 75th Anniversary Conference. While last year was a special anniversary year for our organization, at our 2015 conference we will be "Looking to the Future."
As requested by several of you that attended last year's conference we will be offering sessions about our new state and national music standards. Keynoting our conference will be former NAfME president, Dr. Scott Shuler. He was a leader in developing the new national standards. Our state standards that are currently in the final stages of revision are closely aligned with these new national standards. Lynn Tuttle from the Arizona Department of Education will be presenting sessions on the state standards at the conference as well.
We have conference offerings that will be beneficial to our collegiate members and our early career teachers. Remember, collegiates, that the first 100 of you who register and attend Dr. Shuler's session on Friday will receive a free Jimmy John's lunch!
More performing ensembles will be featured by each of our constituent groups, and once again this year we will have university performances and receptions as well as showcase ensembles in the exhibit hall.
Our Hall of Fame Awards Banquet will take place on Friday evening. Featured performers at the banquet will be the Strolling Strings from Highland High School. We hope that you will plan to join us for this special part of the conference.
See you in February!
